Hamnet

 

This award winning film, based on the book by Maggie O'Farrell, imagines the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes. The story centres on their fierce romance in 16th-century Warwickshire, William's move to London to write, and the devastating 1596 death of their 11-year-old twin son, Hamnet, from the plague. The grief ultimately inspires Shakespeare's masterpiece, Hamlet.
